ThinkGeek iCADE is Really Real!

At last, at last! We'll have REAL arcade action on the iPad.

In 2009, ThinkGeek released the iCADE as an April Fool's Day joke but now it's here!

From the iCADE iPad Arcade Cabinet product page:

To bring the iCADE to life, ThinkGeek has partnered with ION. Atari, the first name in classic arcade games, also signed up to bring a huge suite of classic arcade titles including Asteroids® to market with iCADE support built right in. When released, a friendly API will be made available to developers to add iCADE support to almost any game.

API?

Oh yes. This beautiful little device is going to be released with an API that will allow any game developer to write real, arcade games for the iPad.

As most of you know, I work at ThinkGeek. When I'm able, I'll post more details about said API and it's capabilities... And when I say, "when I'm able" I mean when I'm allowed to talk about it so no knocking on my door and asking about it. I ain't talkin'!

Oh man that looks pretty sweet. Love retro games and better yet an actual arcade stand up machine…well sort of..but close enough.
