To the lay person, Apple is basically selling the exact same thing as any other tech company. Sure there are differences in core technology and design factors and of course the Be-Mock-Turtlenecked One. However, that's not the reason they always seem to get it right.
They get it right because they're not playing the same game.

Apple does great job to promote their products and their option simplicity is what makes it so good. For instance there are 2 variation for Macbook Pro 13″ inch model and people doesn’t get confused with one to have instead other computer manufacturers has 100′s of variations for each compute model.
